Hair prostheses differ in the type of base used: lace or poly.
The main difference between the various thickening implants are the bases, which is the part where the hair is applied. The base then has to be adhered directly to the head in order to cover the thinning areas where hair loss is most visible.
Depending on the type of base, the hair can be knotted or injected: depending on how the implant is made you will have a different final yield, resistance and transpiration.
In general, there are two types of implants: those with a poly base and those with a lace base.
Both are very good but not all Hair Systems are the same, so some may not be ideal for your particular case.
Grafted hair has more softness than knotted hair, but allows for less breathability. In fact, the hair is injected into poly, silicone, and resin bases, i.e., closed, rubberized bases.
The prostheses with knotted hair use lace bases (tulle type, monofilament) in which the hair is fixed to the base with a knot, an operation that increases the resistance and durability of the hair.
For this reason they are very breathable and practically invisible.
Lace hair systems
The Lace hair prostheses are made with a tulle base: a very light weave on which the hair is knotted.Lace prostheses have the advantage of being much more breathable than those made from other materials (such as polyurethane or silicone), as long as they are only attached at the perimeter. In addition, they generally have a better aesthetic performance in the frontal area, but only and exclusively if they are constructed and used in the appropriate manner. The other determinants for an optimal result are:
- The thickness of the Lace (the thinner it is, the less visible it will be)
- The thickness of the double-sided tape that is used to attach the prosthesis to the skin, which should not be shiny otherwise the hair line will be unsightly (correct double-sided tape No Shine), the same applies to liquid adhesives (see HRS NEW ULTRA BOND).
- The bleaching of knots, which is far from obvious and especially not easy to perform.
Poly Hair Systems
Poly hair prosthesis is a polyurethane hair implant made with a membrane base onto which hair is injected (grafted) or knotted.Poly prostheses have the advantage of being much stronger, but can be less breathable than lace prostheses. They can give a very good final result, almost invisible, as long as they are built with a thin membrane and used in the appropriate way.
In general, a poly base can be thick or thin. Thick polyurethane (or resin) is stronger but much more visible, with a high hair density. In contrast, thin polyurethane (or film) is less durable but almost invisible and undetectable.

Lace hair system
The Lace hair systems have the advantage of being much more breathable than those built with materials such as polyurethane or silicone, provided that they are fixed only on the perimeter. They also generally have a better aesthetic performance in the frontal area, but only and exclusively if they are constructed and used in the appropriate manner.
The other determining elements for an optimal result are:
- The thickness of the Lace (the thinner it is, the less visible it will be)
- The thickness of the double-sided tape that is used to attach the prosthesis to the skin, which should not be shiny otherwise the hair line will be unsightly (correct double-sided tape No Shine), the same applies to liquid adhesives (see HRS NEW ULTRA BOND).
- The discoloration of knots, which is far from obvious and especially not easy to perform.
Lace 18
It consists of a very thin honeycombed base, on which the hair is tied. It guarantees an excellent result, provided that the knots that inevitably form to secure the hair to the base are well bleached. The system is very breathable; the only flaw: the fragility of this material that can deteriorate very quickly during maintenance operations.
Lace 64
It is very similar to Lace 18, the thickness is slightly greater for the benefit of considerable strength and durability.
Among the nets it is the one that has the best ratio between aesthetics and durability.
It differs in the greater thickness of the screen for the benefit of longer wear resistance.
Ultrathin Lace HRS Net
Among the thinnest nets in the world, it allows a superlative aesthetic result.
In order not to nullify its naturalness, it should be applied with opaque adhesive.
In case of intense sweating, it may require frequent maintenance.
Unfortunately very delicate and not very durable.

Individual grafting of each hair
The Dermo 2010 hair implant is the result of several years of experimentation. To date it still remains unsurpassed in terms of naturalness of hair injection.
It is available in 2 different thicknesses that are both very thin. Paradoxically, the thinner version is stronger but the hair outflow less voluminous than the other.
This hair implant can be constructed from either European virgin hair or Indian or extra remy hair.
To promote transpiration, the base is microperforated: you can choose a larger hole diameter size to increase the passage of air and perspiration.
The innovative grafting technique of the Dermo 2010 Hair Systems
Our special processing allows you to avoid the annoying pink spot problem, which is present in almost all film-injected hair prostheses.
Generally, only the bases with knotted hair or the very thick double-layered ones allow to avoid this blemish.

This particular type of hair thickening, has some characteristics impossible to obtain with other types of constructions and bases:

In some cases the lifespan of a Dynamic hair augmentation can reach and even exceed 2 years.

Hair Thickening Instant Volume is confirmed to be the most viable alternative to Hair Systems.
Unlike normal Hair Systems, even compared to prostheses in lace or nets of any kind, the Instant Volume system guarantees a far superior transpiration. It does not oblige to shave off existing hair, which is integrated with that of the applied system. And it can be managed with a periodic check every 30 – 40 days.
This type of thickening is used especially for women. Who are often affected by thinning and not permanent hair loss.
